Looking for a way to warm up on a cool summer night? These warm baked apples are just the ticket. Using the Door Peninsula White wine, this divine desert is a great way to end the day.
Ingredients: Prep time: 10 mins, Cook time: 1.5 hours
1/2 cup Peninsula White wine
1/4 cup apple juice
2 tablespoons firmly-packed brown sugar
1/3 cup raisins
1 tablespoon butter
4 Red Delicious apples
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 F. In a saucepan, combine the Peninsula White wine, juice, sugar, raisins, butte, and cinnamon. Bring to a boil, and let simmer for 5 minutes.
Core apples. Poke small slits through the skin off the apples to let the sauce soak through. Arrange the apples in a small baking dish. Pour the warm wine mixture over them, filling the cavities of the apples with raisins, and bake in the middle of the oven, basting with wine mixture, occasionally, for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until tender. Transfer to a serving dish and spoon wine sauce over top.
